transparencias inmóviles (still transparencies)

 by Elena Perales Andreu

transparencias inmóviles is a solo percussion piece featuring old drumheads and water drops.

This work explores the reuse of aged skins and their altered resonant properties. The overlapping of these materials can produce new frequencies and timbral effects that shifts and evolves. The incorporation of water further expands the range of sonic possibilities, offering a vast array of unique timbres and textures.

A new instrument made of drumheads was created for this piece, an instrument with its own characteristics, timbre, sound and limitations.
